1.博弈论与其历史背景之一瞥(General lecture: A Small Introduction to Game Theory and its Historical Backgrounds)

In this lecture, I will give a small introduction to game theory, starting with John von Neumann’s minimax theorem and balanced growth theory. We will look at his book “Theory of games and economic behavior” written with Oskar Morgenstern. And I will discuss the Nash noncooperative theory. Then, we will see influences of those works to economics, in particular, to the market equilibrium theory, which locates at the philosophically opposite site. It may be interesting to ask why and how the philosophically different theories have been interacted deeply.

2.博弈论的认知逻辑路径:我们能走向何方?我们将走向何方?(Lecture 1 to Philosophy Students:The Epistemic Logic Approach to Game Theory: Where Can/should We go? )

The epistemic logic approach targets an explicit treatment of beliefs/knowledge and inferences for decision making. I will start why we take this approach and where we should head for. I point out that we will be able to see a lot of basic conceptual problems in the present game theoretical approach to human activities in society. In addition to very basic problems, we will see also other problems such as the common knowledge problem, interpersonal inferences, and mutual misunderstanding of people. Even bigger philosophical problems such as “free will” may be related to our study.

3.归纳博弈理论导引:产生于经验世界中的信念(Lecture 2 to Philosophy Students: An Introduction to Inductive Game Theory: Beliefs originated Experiential Worlds )

The epistemic logic approach starts with the assumption that a player has a given set of basic beliefs/knowledge. However, this approach is not capable of thinking about the source of such beliefs/knowledge. We look for the source in individual and social experiences. Then, we will again meet a lot of basic problems such as how many experiences one can have, and what he can find from them. Even we are subject to a lot of cognitive constraints such as forgetfulness and easy interpretations (rationalizations). In this lecture, we discuss those problems using small examples.
